Program Overview

Your Summer in Singapore program lasts 6 weeks (or up to 12 weeks) and is designed for students from all academic backgrounds. You will enroll in CIEE courses and online courses taught through CIEE's global academic partner, ASU. Enhance your experience with co-curricular and extracurricular activities while immersing yourself in Singaporean culture. Live and learn in Singapore!

Unique Experiences

Take a bumboat

to the rustic Pulau Ubin Island and bike around, where you could encounter wild boars, macaques, and other local animals

Eat to your heart's content

at one of Singapore's Michelin star-winning hawker stands

Run or walk past Dragonfly Lake

in the futuristic Gardens by the Bay, as well as visit its world-renowned indoor cloud forest and the world's largest indoor waterfall

Singapore is a small city, and its major attractions are easily reached via public transit, such as the subway. Commuting around the island, even between its furthest points, takes less than two hours.??

Program Highlights

  • Unmatched Flexibility:?Spend 1 or 2 consecutive 6-week blocks of your summer in the same host city or travel to different cities per block for increased mobility and cultural immersion.
  • Academic Courses: Choose from CIEE courses and online courses delivered by CIEE's global partner, ASU, that align with your academic major.
  • Immersive Experiences: Participate in activities, excursions, study tours, and more that showcase your host city's culture, values, and local art, film, music, cuisine, and sports scenes.
  • Cultural Activities:?Volunteer with members of the local community, join student clubs to socialize with your peers, and attend local workshops and events to get to know your host city.

Activities

CIEE's excursions and cultural activities in Singapore will open doors for you to explore the city's rich diversity, language, culture, history, and timeless beauty in ways that will enhance your time abroad.

Samples of past excursions and activities:

  • Explore the Bukit Timah Nature Reserve trail, the only primary forest in Singapore
  • Visit Sentosa Island History Museum and learn about WWII battles in this strategic region
  • Experience the cultural richness of the port of Malacca in Malaysia

Academics

CIEE Singapore:?Conveniently located in the southwestern part of the city, CIEE Singapore boasts three classrooms, and a meeting room used for studying, academic advising, and student life support. Students will find several restaurants, a supermarket, and a mall near CIEE Singapore.

Arizona State University (ASU):?Brought to you by CIEE in partnership with ASU, enhance your international coursework with online classes that align with your degree requirements. ASU offers thousands of online courses in asynchronous 6-week sessions that fit within the CIEE academic calendar.

GAIN Travel Grants - Up to $1,500 toward travel costs guaranteed to students with a FAFSA SAI of $10,000 or less. Higher should still apply!

Gilman Go Global Grants - Up to $2,500/semester, $1,500/quarter, and $1,000 guaranteed to Benjamin A Gilman International Scholarship applicants.

Merit-Based Scholarships - Up to $2,500/semester, $1,500/quarter, and $750/summer awarded to students deomonstrating high academic achievement.
